Make up schedule

Classes missed for inclement weather or illness can be made up in a similar age-group. This is not a requirement, but if you want to do so, you're welcome to.

Our age groups

For 2 and 3 year old students we offer 'Baby Ballet'. Your dancer will develop coordination, motor skills, and classroom behavioral skills. These classes include an introduction to basic ballet, song & dance routines, and basic acrobatic skills. They meet for 30 minutes.

For 4 olds, we offer classes that engage in fun, imaginative activities designed to develop motor skills, coordination, musicality, and confidence. They may take ballet and jazz. Each class is 30-45 minutes long.

Because of increased coordination, retention abilities, and attention span, 5-6 year old children may choose to take ballet, tap, jazz and/or acrobatics. At this level, we will use a variety of activities and games to introduce proper dance techniques and terminology. Each dance subject will meet once a week for 45-60 minutes.

Students 7 years old and up may choose from ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, hip-hop and/or lyrical classes. They will meet for 45-60 minutes per class.

Based on the amount of interest, we offer adult classes in ballet, tap, or jazz. We may also offer exercise-based classes, such as Pilates, Yoga, and Callanetics. New exercise classes will be offered based on interest, so we welcome your suggestions. No previous dance experience is necessary; we ask only that you have fun and be willing to try new things.

(Note: In accordance with Wilkes County Schools, we typically use August 1st as our age cut-off date when determining class placement.)

our classes

Ballet and Pointe

Ballet emphasizes balance, control, and grace. It is the foundation for all forms of dance. Classes are offered to girls age 2 and up and boys who are at least 4 years old.

Pointe classes are available to intermediate and advanced students age 10 and older with at least 3 years of serious ballet training. Students must continue to be enrolled in a weekly ballet class. Pointe class can be taken only with instructor permission.

Tap focuses on combining rhythm and sound with music. This class is available to boys and girls who are 5 years old and up.

Jazz has several styles, from blues to pop to hip-hop. Our jazz students will be exposed to many different styles. It's offered to students 4 years old and up. Because we believe so strongly in proper technique creating strong, safe dancers, students must continue taking ballet in order to enroll in jazz class.

Lyrical dance is strongly influenced by both ballet and jazz styles. It will strengthen complete dance and performance skills and emphasizes musicality and expression through dance. This class is available to any student age 7 and up. Students must also continue taking ballet to enroll in lyrical.

Hip-Hop has evolved from street dancing into one of the most popular styles of dance today. This class is available to any student age 7 and up. No previous experience or other classes are required.

Acrobatics focuses on basic tumbling and mat work that would be beneficial for dancers, such as cartwheels, partner tricks, and walkovers to name a few. Acro is offered to students age 5 and up. Students looking for cheerleading stunts or power tumbling should visit our neighbor, Yadkin Valley Gymnastics.

Dress Code

To encourage professionalism, unity, and discipline in our students, Studio 68 follows a classical dress code. It is important that dancers present a neat and elegant appearance to minimize distractions in the classroom. As a convenience to you, all dancewear may be purchased at Robin on Releve in downtown North Wilkesboro.

Tuition and Fees

We are excited to provide ALL-INCLUSIVE PRICING - nothing hidden, nothing extra, consistent payments, very convenient. Tuition is billed per family vs per child. It increases on a sliding scale, so the more you take, the more you save! This has been very well-received from our dance families - nothing beats convenience!

Please note: students in the Company Stars program have a different pay scale. See Miss Debbie with questions.
